Race: Teacup Dragon.
A race of dragons the size of songbirds, for which they are often mistaken. They can fly and breathe fire yet can fit inside a pocket. The largest known teacup dragon weighs in at about a pound. Some researchers believe it was a genetic mutation that caused the dramatic size change, but others subscribe to the theory that it was all evolution. A world which does not suit giants suits smaller creatures, similar to the shrinking of crocodiles and other reptiles.
Nonetheless, teacups are a proud and long-lived race, as are all dragonkind. Artorius is an old man now, but he was born shortly before the destruction of Pompeii. The age of maturation comes similar to humans, around two decades, before aging slows to a complete crawl.

True Names are guarded with a fierceness to rival hordes in the days of old. It is often said that the Name was part of the treasure horde, carved on a stone tablet which shatters upon the dragon's death…
All dragons have a True Name. These are generally kept secret, even from other family members. Only the family patriarch or matriarch, who bestows the Name, keeps this secret. A dragon comes to be aware of their True Name around their Adulthood Ceremony. None are allowed to leave the dragon lands before becoming a recognized adult.
Discovering and using a True Name is a terrifying concept. It means the person (human, in most cases) who is using it has done so to trap and enslave the dragon to their bidding. Free will is lost. Rumors say more than actual recorded fact, however. No one in living memory knows of it happening, but they know folk stories that they keep as truths.

A simple, sweet, loyal and gullible girl who has ventured from her homeland under orders from the family patriarch (her grandfather), in order to learn about and adapt to the outside world. Due to her very old family and lineage, she is actually an extremely wealthy ojousama!? Her older sister should be the present envoy, but was stricken with illness and unable to go.
The concept of "envoys" dates back to ancient times, when all lands were one. One select person of each race would tour the other realms. It is a tradition with no meaning in the modern day, as communications are at their best and fastest, but it is an excellent excuse to let the young travel.
Because Artorius' lineage is powerful, the tradition is more strictly adhered to.
So now that the fledgling has left the nest, she is eager to use her newfound freedom to make friends and do all the things everyone else does. Dance, date, kiss, prom - maybe a hefty diet of reality tv alone was a poor medium for modern society… ?
